FIELD TRIP

The Columbus Museum

The Visual Arts learners took a field trip to The Columbus Museum to view the current exhibitions, Alma W. Thomas: Everything Is Beautiful and Sand Unshaken: The Origin Story of Alma Thomas. Alma Thomas is a Columbus, GA native and this body of work is a comprehensive overview of the artist’s long life (1891–1978) with approximately 150 works, including her rarely seen theatrical designs and beloved abstract paintings.

2019 Semi-Finalists Awaken Your Imagination Competition

Bentley D. (8th Grade) was selected as a semi-finalist in the Awaken Your Imagination competition. He will be working alongside Brianna C. (8th Grade), to write and illustrate a children’s book. This past Monday, they had the opportunity to meet Thelma Kat Ferry (artist and illustrator of children’s books and coloring books; photographed with our students below) who will be mentoring them through the writing and illustration process. We are so excited and proud of them! Such a wonderful opportunity!
